"A Summer Fling"...?!!

How do you know if summer romances will last?

In an argument with my brother, Na, he mentioned something that ticked me off: "Watch it just be a summer fling."

I have to admit that the first few times I've seen Ris, I took it for granted. I didn't care about the direction our relationship was going nor was I eager to schedule double-dates. I honestly believed that it was going to end up as a come-and-go sort of friendship. How can you blame me though? Summer wasn't going to last forever and so I never expected it to turn out the way it did.

The turning point of it all, the one event that changed my thoughts and views completely, the day that paved way to a possibility of something more, was the trip to S.F.. Although it was a blistering afternoon in Chinatown, our connection was burning as well. The progress of it seemed to have leaped a whole section of dating as we strolled around the city, arms interlocked, appearing like a real couple for the first time. I'll even point out the look Jwong
gave us when he turned around and saw me and her having a joyous day filled with hugs and closeness...Haha. Being all clingy before being "officially" together is a common practice back at Mars and so, for all the haters and disapproving bodies, you can hold on to your standard way of romantic experiences and continue watching the predictable dramas you love so much.

And so, from then on to this day and beyond, I will always look forward to seeing her again. Even if she doesn't feel this way or consider me as a burden in her life, I'll always make time for her. She is still probably clueless as to the extent of how much I care about her. I'll say it to her once in a while, but if she can only see my mind in the works, it'll probably be flooded with images of "clouds, clouds, more clouds, then an angelic Martian named Ris".

How do you know if summer romances will last? You don't. But hey, whoever said that the season matters when it comes to love?
